Tuesday, April 30, 2024 – Snowing in the Garden!

  I’m not so happy to report that it is currently snowing in the garden! I’m happy to receive the added moisture, but not so happy that it is -3°C right now. These conditions will certainly delay the start to our gardening season.

Sunday, April 28, 2024 – We Got Rain!

  I’m happy to report that it rained in the garden last night. We received a light rain for about one hour, giving us maybe ¼”. Besides adding much needed moisture to the soil, it should go a long way in helping to thaw our frozen ground.

Friday, April 26, 2024 – How to Measure Bulk Manure

Multiplying the length x width x height of anything will give you its measurement in cubic units. Whether it is Imperial inches, feet, or yards, or Metric millimetres, centimetres, or metres. We measure our manure in cubic yards. A pile that measures three feet long x three feet wide x three feet high equals twenty seven cubic feet (which equals one cubic yard). 3 cu ft x 3 cu ft x 3 cu ft = 27 cu ft (1 cu yd) The photo shows a 1 cu yd tractor bucket full of manure.   

Wednesday, April 24, 2024 – Power Pole Removal

Fortis had an interesting time removing the surplus power poles in the garden. As they were pulled out of the ground, we could see that both were encased in ice. Rototilling will have to wait a little bit longer…
