Friday, May 15, 2026 - First Round Rototilling is now Complete

 

ROTOTILLING

·        The commercial rototilling of the garden plots is now complete. All gardeners who ordered and prepaid the service have been so advised.

·        We can do a second round of rototilling if the demand is there. As before, the price is $150 per plot, which will be discounted to $115 per plot if 10 or more gardens want it done. You need to prepay the $115 when you request the service. If less than 10 are requested, then you will be required to pay an additional $35. Don’t ask if you are not prepared to pay.

·        You are free to arrange rototilling on your own if you wish. You must receive our approval in advance before your contractor comes on site.

WATER TOTES

·        We are in the process of installing the first round of water totes and bases. We have been delayed by the rain, and will resume when the weather permits next week.

·        There is still time to order and prepay your tote to be installed in the second round.

·        Be advised that there is a limited amount of totes that are ready-to-install. Once these are used, then we will need time to clean and modify more for use.

    We have had several reports that deer have been feasting in the garden at night. While annoying to be sure, it is a fact of nature that we just have to deal with pest control of one kind or another. Here are some ideas that you can use to help keep the deer from snacking on your treasured plants… Choose Deer-Resistant Plants While hungry deer may eat just about anything, they tend to avoid prickly and fuzzy foliage . And, they don’t really like heavily fragranced plants, either. Experiment with different textured and aromatic plants. Try using them as borders for your garden beds.     Place Bar Soap Near Plants To keep deer away, many gardeners turn to ordinary bar soap . Sunday, April 26, 2026 – Expanding the Garden Part 2

  Two weeks ago, I detailed some of the problems encountered while expanding the garden, like wet snow on the field and frozen ground. We overcame those issues and moved on to Step 2: ·         Remove remaining fence posts ·         Install new garden plot posts ·         Install new driveway gates   The work was proceeding nicely, then Mother Nature decided to humble us once again, by stirring up a spring squall.
