Sunday, May 10, 2026 - Commercial Rototilling Scheduled for May 13 + 14

 

Commercial rototilling of garden plots has been scheduled for Wednesday, May 13 and Thursday, May 14, 2026.

If you have previously ordered and paid for this service, no more action required on your part… it will happen.

If you want the commercial machine to rototill your plot(s) the DEADLINE for ordering is end of business TOMORROW (Monday, May 11, 2026). Simply request the service and pay the $115 per plot fee.

If required, the next round of rototilling will increase to $150 per plot unless 10 or more plots are tilled at the same time.

 

As they say in the Army… MOVE IT OR LOSE IT!

    We have had several reports that deer have been feasting in the garden at night. While annoying to be sure, it is a fact of nature that we just have to deal with pest control of one kind or another. Here are some ideas that you can use to help keep the deer from snacking on your treasured plants… Choose Deer-Resistant Plants While hungry deer may eat just about anything, they tend to avoid prickly and fuzzy foliage . And, they don’t really like heavily fragranced plants, either. Experiment with different textured and aromatic plants. Try using them as borders for your garden beds.     Place Bar Soap Near Plants To keep deer away, many gardeners turn to ordinary bar soap . Sunday, April 26, 2026 – Expanding the Garden Part 2

  Two weeks ago, I detailed some of the problems encountered while expanding the garden, like wet snow on the field and frozen ground. We overcame those issues and moved on to Step 2: ·         Remove remaining fence posts ·         Install new garden plot posts ·         Install new driveway gates   The work was proceeding nicely, then Mother Nature decided to humble us once again, by stirring up a spring squall.
