Wednesday, July 1, 2026 - Record Rainfall Received in the Garden

The Edmonton area shattered its historical June rainfall record, receiving approximately 262 mm (10.3 in) of rain by the end of June 2026. This historic downpour completely crushed the previous 1914 record of 216.5 mm (8.5 in), making it the second-wettest month ever recorded in the area's history since records began in the late 1800s.

The excessive rain caused significant disruptions across the Edmonton region, including Sherwood Park and Strathcona County, with washed-out roads and states of local emergency declared in neighboring rural areas due to localized flooding and severely saturated ground.

This immense rainfall has adversely affected us as well.

Flooded plots in Field One. This area has always been moist after heavy rains, but never standing water like this.

Flooded plots in Field Two. We have never seen water pooling in this area in the 40 years that we have lived here!
